About the event

This  week we have are bringing Cliff Porter to The Village! "Born and raised  in Reno NV, Porter was exposed to a wide variety of Music! But at the  early age of five his Uncle, Legendary blues Guitarist Lil Joe Blue  introduced him to the Blues and a Drum Set. After a few years his uncle  wanted to take him on tour, but family feared he was still too young.

Porter  has never taken lessons, but has studied at the School of Sight and  Sound, meaning, if he can see it or hear it, he can play it! Porter  said, “Growing up playing in Church, you had to know how to listen to  the music for changes all the time, because The Spirit will change the  natural flow of a song at any moment”, so Porter has always played with  that type of awareness throughout his career. He was section leader  through high school, even though he couldn’t read the music, he explains  it as GOD given Talent.

In  Porter’s professional career he has played in a touring Gospel drama,  Make up your Mind, also with a Nationally touring Quartet 4 with God,  Where they opened for Kirk Franklin, blind Boys of Alabama, and Many  others. He has also been the musical Director for a number of tribute  shows, and Las Vegas Touring bands as well.

Currently  Porter is the Lead Singer and Drummer for Jelly Bread, A high energy  Funk, Soul, and Jam Band, which received Band of the year in Northern  Nevada 2012, as well as album of the Year, with their Sophomore CD “NO  DRESS CODE”. The band tours the Country and plays Festivals. He is  considered the Conductor of the Band, because most often times takes  songs to different places on the fly, Guess that’s those Gospel Roots!  Porter has also become the Drummer for Singer Whitney Myer from NBC’s  The Voice.
